Since 1998, Mogens Kirkeby is the Secretary General of the International Sport and Culture Association (ISCA) whose headquarters are located in Copenhagen, Denmark. He holds a Master of Science, Sport and International Politics, from the University of Copenhagen, Denmark. He is an international consultant and lecturer on the issue of the contribution of sport to intercultural dialogue for the European Commission, Council of Europe (Istanbul Declaration on the Contribution of Sport to Intercultural Dialogue), UNESCO (Youth Education and Traditional Sport and Games) and the UN (International Year of Sport and Physical Education).
In recent years, Kirkeby has been working on youth and culture programmes in cooperation with the EU, Council of Europe and UNESCO. He continues to be involved in the projects "Sport for all cooperation in South-East Europe" (which uses sport as a tool for civil society, mobilisation and democratisation) as well as the project "International Youth Leader Education" (4- to 9-month training course including 350 students from 35 countries).
