Dr. Čopič is a lawyer in Slovenia. She has been Head of Department for EU Affairs and Cultural Development at the Ministry of Culture and is a part time lecturer at the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Ljubljana where she obtained her Doctorate in 2006.
As a lawyer she has extensive experience in drafting and preparing laws for different fields of culture also in preparation for Slovenia's membership to the EU. In her capactiy as a civil servant, she has been involved in the overall evaluation of national cultural policy, the revision of cultural regulations, modernisation of public cultural services provision, allocation of public funds for culture etc. Dr. Čopič's academic interests are currently focussed on multi-disciplinary methodologies for working across professional boundaries, bridging disciplines such as cultural administration, public finances, tax legislation, urban and regional planning and local self-government.
She has been involved in several studies on managing cultural identities in an era of transition. In addition, Dr. Čopič is involved in many European transnational exercises including the Council of Europe/ERICarts project, "Compendium of Cultural Policies and Trends in Europe" as head of the working group on cultural legislation and as a national author.
